GENERAL FUNCTION

Develop Merrell’s market share by building & delivering sales growth plans with key accounts, to ensure that we expand business opportunities within the given Region/territory.

Primary Duties

 

  • Drive sustainable, profitable sales through effective management and leadership of assigned customer base. Achieve strategic objectives, sales and profit targets in agreement with Country Manager and in accordance with UK Annual Growth Plan
  • Ensure provision of optimum service to account base via effective communication with key internal support functions e.g. customer service, marketing, planning, merchandising; ensuring customers’ needs and expectations are met
  • Produce thorough Annual Key Account Sales Plans, detailing account profiles and plans; product policy; category development plans; volume, pricing and turnover projection.
  • Submit monthly and Quarterly Sales Reports, highlighting sales performance by account and product category, updating sales forecast and identifying key issues / opportunities
  • Proactively lead a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-year period. Proactively assess customer needs on an ongoing basis
  • Conduct detailed Annual Business Reviews with all accounts, detailing history, opportunities and development plans
  • Build long term productive business relationships with Key Account personnel, maintaining regular contact at Head Office and store level, and maintaining a network of multi-level contacts e.g. buyers, merchandisers, retail operations, marketing. Develop intimate knowledge of  customers’ strategies, development plans, organization and operations, communicating relevant information throughout the business
  • Promote the selling of relevant product ranges, upholding product distribution strategy, and provide authoritative guidance for range selection
  • Ensure provision of optimum service to all accounts via co-ordination of key internal support functions e.g. customer service, marketing, product development, merchandising
  • Record and communicate matters arising and all key points discussed in meetings with customers via completion of Account Contact Reports
  • Contribute to Forecasting and Sales Planning process
  • Analyse open to buy, stock turns and sell through in order to impact sales plans with key account customers, and to win growth opportunities
  • Obtain regular sell through information for all key accounts and communicate throughout the business on a monthly basis
  • Provide regular feedback to the Management team covering the marketplace, competitor activity and product development
  • Ensure that presentation of the Merrell brand in store, in print and on line is maximised, is highly visible, and is consistent with brand image and guidelines

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

 

  • Key accounts management experience with sales experience in brown shoe and/or fashion footwear environments within the region.
  • Previous experience of working with our key accounts would be a significant advantage
  • Able to demonstrate that they have significantly grown a key account business
  • Implemented targeted marketing campaigns for key account businesses
  • Experience of working on product development/product line management
  • Provable negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge & experience of the apparel industry for future role development would be of benefit
  • A degree/qualification in business, marketing, communications or equivalent work experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills including English.
  • IT proficient including Power Point, Excel and Word.
  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Footwear product knowledge
